Hello, I would like to invite you to be part of a project I’m organizing for the children in my community in Colombia this Christmas. Many children in this community won’t have a toy or a meal to share with their families due to their very limited resources.
I would like to invite you to join this initiative that I have been carrying out for several years. With your contribution, you could bring joy and hope to many children. Last year, we managed to benefit around 100 children, who received new shoes and clothes. In addition, they were able to enjoy a meal to share with their families on Christmas Eve, but this year, I would like to increase the number of beneficiaries.
Any contribution is a great help. Thank you very much for your support. I assure you that the resources reach people in great need who are truly grateful!
Start Date: 2014
Community: Piedecuesta, Santander, Colombia
Context: The children of Nueva Colombia Piedecuesta and their families face significant challenges: many families live off recycling, river sand extraction, construction, working as motorcycle taxi drivers, and many others work as street vendors. There are also many single mothers struggling to meet basic needs for themselves and their children.
Objectives:
Origins: Yessica’s Kids began at the SENA House with a small group of leaders. With the help of the social worker from SENA at that time, we were able to create a leadership group that started working with the community by cleaning the community, the river, and the sports fields, while also organizing recreational, sports, artistic, and cultural activities with the children to foster trust and participation. It was a beautiful project because around 50 leaders, mostly students, joined, volunteering without expecting anything in return, sharing what little they had, and decided to support the project, showing a willingness to work with those who need it the most.
After completing my degree and taking a necessary break, I decided to embark on a journey of self-discovery and reconnect with myself. Upon returning to my community, the place that saw me grow, I realized it was the perfect time to resume my work and continue making a difference in the lives of the children. Today, we have expanded our reach and helped more children, providing them with Christmas outfits, dinners, toys, and even more special experiences on this meaningful and beloved holiday.
We Provide:
Growth: Today, I am the only one continuing to lead Yessica’s Kids. This work is important to me because it’s the community where I grew up—my community. I am proud to have grown up there and to have founded Yessica’s Kids to include more children and provide them with the following services:
Impact:
Support and Funding: I am committed to continuing and expanding Yessica’s Kids. If our story inspires you, consider supporting us in any way. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a big difference.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Yessica Granados
